Making connections as an accompanying spouse
The International Spouse Program by Swedes Worldwide hosted the third and final session in our mental well-being workshop series together with Svea KBT. This session focused on making connections in Sweden and offered practical, low-threshold ways to reach out, start conversations, and expand your support network – especially when it feels challenging.
Finding your place in a new country takes time, and it’s common to experience stress, loneliness, or moments of uncertainty along the way. To support accompanying spouses during this transition, the International Spouse Program created the workshop series Taking care of your mental well-being in partnership with Svea KBT.
In the final session, participants explored simple ways to build connections over time –through small steps like reaching out, starting conversations, and joining shared-interest activities and routines.
The session was led by student psychologists under the supervision of licensed psychologists.
Supporting accompanying spouses
Swedes Worldwide’s International Spouse Program, exclusively available to our main partners, offers career support, networking, and activities to help accompanying partners thrive.
The program provides participants with opportunities to build professional networks, gain new skills, and receive guidance in entering the Swedish job market. Its long-term goal is to help accompanying spouses create a meaningful and fulfilling life in their new country.
